What you’ll be doing

You’ll be out in the field inspecting, treating, and preventing pest issues across Cairns homes and businesses. This is hands-on work that rewards people who think ahead and take ownership.

  • Carry out pest inspections and identify pest activity and risk areas
  • Apply treatments safely and effectively, following label directions and SDS
  • Set up monitoring, baiting, and prevention measures (including timber pest where qualified)
  • Explain findings and prevention steps in plain English, no jargon
  • Keep accurate job notes and compliance records
  • Look after equipment, vehicle presentation, and site cleanliness

  • Strong communication and customer service, you can build trust quickly

Licences and training

In Queensland, technicians who apply pesticides or fumigants for fee-for-service work generally need a Pest Management Technician licence with the relevant endorsements (urban, timber, fumigation, etc).

  • If you’re already licensed, great, bring your endorsements
  • If you’re not yet licensed, we’ll look for genuine commitment to obtaining what’s required
  • We expect clean, compliant work and accurate reporting

Note: licensing and endorsement requirements vary by work type. We’ll align duties to your current level and support your pathway.
